Map of France
There are more clichés about Paris than there are tourists at the Louvre, but the fact is that underneath each overused hackneyed cliché is a glistening kernel of truth. The City of Light, the City of Love and the City of Romance, familiar platitudes, but once you experience it for yourself you understand why. There is a je ne sais quoi allure to this city that beguiles, but never completely reveals what makes it so universally appealing. Artists, poets, writers, and composers have tried to define exactly what it is about this place, and yet they succeed only to a point. Perhaps it is as elusive as defining love, for to be in Paris entails experiencing love, about someone, something, some place.
There is so much to do – you know the big ones, the Louvre, Musee d’Orsay, Sacre Coeur, St. Germain des Pres, the Left Bank, the Right Bank, the Arc de Triomphe, the Champs Elysées, the Opéra- but don’t miss the fun of discovering the small ones, the ones off the beaten path. Nothing like taking your time strolling thru the turn of the century mansion that houses Musée Marmottan then enjoying a café and patisserie in the museums jewel box café.
Wandering aimlessly is romantic. Getting lost isn’t romantic. In fact there are few things that can drain the romance out of a situation faster than realizing that you’re hopelessly lost. So take your travel map and put it away if you want to wander, but have no fear that your wandering will turn into a lost odyssey. You can always pull out the STREETWISE® Paris Map and get yourself pointed back in the right direction.
Paris is not without faults. Sometimes people can be rude, but that’s the case anywhere in the world – be it a large city or small village. You get what you give. And in the case of Paris, as with any true love, you accept the flaws with the charms, the weaknesses with the strengths. In the end the true beauty of Paris will surpass any blemish. Life from a Parisian perspective is beautiful. But that’s another cliché, isn’t it?

Streetwise Paris Map Review
I spent a week in Paris on my own and was able to navigate every arrondissement (neighborhood) and subway (metro) thanks to this map. I highly recommend it to anyone planning on visiting the world’s greatest city — Paris!
The Streetwise Paris map contains excellent detail as to what’s where, as well as an easy-to-read Metro (subway) map that provides the visitor with a fail-safe way to tour Paris. Whether a first-time visitor or a returnee, don’t leave the U.S. without it.
After reading the reviews, I purchased this map for our romatic trip to Paris with my husband. We couldn’t have made a better choice for our needs. Here are the pluses for the map:
(1) It’s laminated so you don’t have to worry about it getting ripped, wet or bent out of shape,
(2) It’s very easy to read and navigate,
(3) The tourist attractions are marked on the map by the name and also the shape of the building itself (a VERY nice feature),
(4) Along with the METRO lines on the map, there is also a seperate METRO map showing simply the lines and stops
(5) The METRO lines are presented in color-code so it’s easy to determine which line you need to take to get from place to place,
(6) There’s a list of the most popular attractions, hotels, museums, shops and parks and their locations on the map.
The only negative(s)about the map wasn’t a negative for us and probably won’t be an issue for the average visitor to Paris. That is that, although it covers a lot of Paris, it doesn’t cover the very outreaching sections of the city. If you plan on spending a month in the city, you may want a more detailed map, but it’s not an issue for the average tourist. As some have stated, the map is divided up onto two sides. You have to flip the map periodically depending upon where you’re going in the city. This was NOT a problem for us and I doubt the average person would think it was either.
For the average tourist, this map will do you just fine. It covers everything you want to see and do and it’s very user friendly. We liked it so much, we purchased a Streetwise Map for our trip to Seattle this summer!
